Since 1998, when Singapore Polytechnic (SP) first set up its Feng Shui, or geomancy, course, response has
been favourable. But in the past two years, it has seen a jump in enrolment.
Intake within these two years has increased by 40 per cent, from 80 students to 110 students, reported the
Shin Min Daily News.
The course, titled "The Basic Science of Fengshui", is a 24-session course jointly offered by SP and the
Singapore Fengshui Centre.
Course lecturer Mr Vincent Koh said: "About 10 per cent to 20 per cent of each cohort become professional
geomancy consultants at the end of the course, and most of them are foreign students.
He explained: "Singaporean students still feel that their knowledge and skills are still not up to par even after
completing the basic course, and do not dare jump into the business so soon. As for overseas students,
knowledge of the concept of Feng Shui in their country is not as widely known nor practised, thus they have
the confidence to set up business there."
The spokesperson for SP revealed, among the students enrolled in its Feng Shui course, quite a few are
professionals, for example, engineers and interior designers.
44-year-old civil engineer Chen Rui Zhong enrolled in SP's Feng Shui course in 2003 because of his keen
interest in Chinese culture.
He says Feng Shui is a useful skill in his field, as he is able to infuse feng shui elements into his designs. For
example, feng shui dictates that the stove and water basins in the kitchen should be placed as far apart as
possible. Toilets should also not be near the living room.
To him, merging geomancy and design is a "value-added service" for customers, which he is happy to provide.
From manager to Feng Shui master
Ms Huang Yan Ling, in her 30s, quit her job two years ago to become a full-time geomancy consultant. She
realised that she preferred a job that allows her more free time, and being a geomancy consultant fulfils that
criteria.
The former manager at a private school had also attended SP's Feng Shui course. It was the course that
spurred her to pursue her interest in the subject.
She said: "The basic course offered by SP introduced me to Feng Shui, and was a springboard for me to want
to find out more about it." "However, you still need to go for more courses and gain more knowledge in order
to become a full-fledged Feng Shui master."
She revealed that after making the career-switch, her working hours were halved, but

THE Singapore Flyer is not the only one getting a new spin thanks to fengshui.
Bollywood celebrities are taking to the ancient Chinese practice of arranging environmental elements to promote fortune and health in a big way.
Mumbai tabloid Mid Day reported that Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai is a big fengshui follower.
The 34-year-old star - now on the Unforgettable concert world tour with her husband Abhishek Bachchan and father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan - has apparently made her spouse carry fengshui coins in his wallet for good luck.
She had also reportedly redecorated Abhishek's make-up trailer along fengshui lines, putting in necessary good-luck accessories to boost his box-office fortunes.
The newspaper quoted a source that said that the actress became a fengshui fan after she broke up with actor Viviek Oberoi in 2005.
She apparently wanted some 'calm and peace' in her life and an expert gave her tips.
The Hindustan Times reported that Amitabh was very happy that his daughter-in-law gave one of his bungalows a fengshui touch.
He reportedly believed that it brought the whole family luck when their company AB Corp landed a mega joint-venture deal to produce films, television shows and concerts with Reliance Entertainment.
The deal was rumoured to be worth between 10 and 15 billion rupees ($329m and $494m).
Aishwarya is not the only Bollywood star keen on this Chinese practice.
Actor Ajay Devgan and British-Asian musician and Bollywood music producer Bally Sagoo have publicly endorsed their own fengshui masters.

Mr Deep told The New Paper that even top producer and director Karan Johar believes in fengshui.
'He has ensured that everything on the sets of his movies as well as TV show Koffee with Karan is placed according to fengshui principles.'

While he declined to give specific names, he cited a few examples of his celebrity dealings.
One was a top movie star who had burnt his fingers while producing a film and was on the verge of bankruptcy.
'He was also having problems at home. I suggested several changes in his apartment and offices.
'I also did several fengshui paintings to balance the elements that were clashing among themselves or with the ruling elements of money, fame, creativity and marriage,' he said.
In another case, a popular actor's wife had asked Mr Deep to help her when her husband was having an affair with one of his leading ladies.
Even Mumbai's television producers have hired fengshui consultants to design their sets.
One such practitioner is Mr Charuhas Naik, who designed the set of Zee TV's Hindi-language reality talent contest, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
Mr Charuhas, who is in his 40s, told The New Paper that he has been a consultant on the show since 2005.
He introduced the blue lighting, a water feature and placed four bamboo shoots on the judges' tables on the show for 'luck's sake'.
He also does a yearly fengshui audit on the show.
'Whenever I feel the need to change it, I will, because I want the show to be the best,' he said.
Mr Charuhas also helps the contestants improve their stage performance through what he called 'personality development'.
He claims to have Bollywood celebrities as clients, but declines to name them as he is known for his 'discretion', he said.
Most of them consult him on matters of the heart.
'I can tell you 95 per cent of my calls are for relationships. You can have all the wealth in the world, it means nothing if you don't have luck in relationships,' he said, adding that he makes trips to their homes to see what needs adjustment.
Mr Charuhas said he was introduced to fengshui in London, where he was studying to be a journalist and has been practising it for over 10 years.
Fengshui is popular with Bollywood directors and producers too.
They also rely on the Indian version of fengshui called Vaastu Shastra - which works on similar principles as its Chinese counterpart.
The Press Trust of India reported that film directors and producers consult numerologists, astrologers and fengshui experts for their movies.
Producer-director Rakesh Roshan would make sure all his releases follow numerology guidelines. That means adding an extra alphabet to his film titles, such as Krrish and Krazzy.
Actors have also changed the spellings of their names by adding an extra letter to boost their luck.
Sunil Shetty added an 'e' to his name three years ago to improve his luck. Now he is known as Suniel.
Film critic Taran Adarsh said that filmmakers and actors have always been superstitious because of the huge amounts of money riding on their films.
'A lot is at stake here, so filmmakers have always taken recourse to superstitions.
'Almost everyone does it in some way or the other,' he said.

SINGAPORE, Aug 9, 2008 (AFP) - Officials in Singapore have changed the direction of the world's biggest observation wheel because feng shui masters said it was taking good fortune away from the city, a report said Saturday.

The Singapore Flyer, which opened earlier this year, had originally revolved so that it rose to face the business district and went down overlooking the sea, the Strait Times newspaper said.
However, masters of the ancient Chinese art of geomancy convinced the wheel's management to reverse it so that it was not taking fortune away from the city.
"A number of feng shui masters had approached us to tell us that the Flyer is on the perfect site to pick up the good qi (energy) flowing into Singapore, but it was going in the wrong direction," said Florian Bollen, the Singapore Flyer's chairman.
"The Flyer was going against the sun and taking fortune away from Singapore."
Bollen likened the change to the "completion of a perfect movie" to give a better story, but added that it cost the company a "six figure sum," the report said.
For visitors now riding one of the wheel's 28 air-conditioned capsules, their view starts with beaches and housing estates in the east and culminates with a vista of the business centre.
At 165 metres (545 feet), or 42 storeys, the Singapore Flyer is 30 metres higher than Britain's London Eye, said builders Great Wheel Corp.
Despite being a modern city Singapore is a largely ethnic Chinese nation, where traditions still hold sway.

Can fengshui master (FSM) be rich themselves since their expertise is to predict future and do fortune telling ? The answer is very simple. NO and YES.

Why NO ? It is because they are not fated to be rich. Some are even poor. It is not their skill but he himself knows that he cannot be rich. Can he change ? Can but it is using fengshui plus his own hard work to look for the goldmine. By saying not fated means that the destiny or luck may not have the wealth elements to be rich. These cannot be changed as you cannot dictate when you are born.

So if YES, it is also due to his destiny and luck. But, if he knows that , he must take advantage of the Heaven luck and focus on manluck. Man luck is created by your own hardwork, determination, perseverance and self motivation to achieve your goals. If you do not make such effort, your goldmine may just appear and leave you.

A feng shui master has been named the sole beneficiary of Hong Kong property tycoon Nina Wang's multibillion-dollar estate, Wang's lawyer says.
Jonathan Midgley's law firm posted a notice in severalnewspapers saying that in Wang's will dated October 16, 2006, she bequeathed her entire estate to Chan Chun-chuen.
At a later press briefing, Midgley said Chan "understands that Wang decided that it was best if her business interests were left to one person who had the necessary experience to continue to manage the Chinachem Group and would do so in a way consistent with her ownphilosophy."
He added that Chan "is touched and honoured that Wang decided that he was suitable to be given responsibility for continuing her work."
Chan, a 48-year-old property trader and married with three children, used to give advice on feng shui but "now it is just a hobby," according to Midgley.
In another will dated in 2002, a Chinachem Charity Fund, set up by Wang and her late husband Teddy Wang, is to receive all her property.
Wang's family, on behalf of the charity fund, filed a caveat at a Hong Kong court to claim rights to the estate.
Wang, Asia's richest woman according to Forbes magazine, died April 3 at age 69 reportedly from cancer. A lavish funeral was held Wednesday attended by staff of her Chinachem Group, tycoons and government officials.
The Oriental Daily, a Chinese-language newspaper, reported that Wang's family has a third will that Wang prepared shortly before she died.
Midgley said his firm is preparing papers to prove the validity of will. He left without taking reporters' questions.
Wang inherited the real estate empire of her husband, who was kidnapped in 1990 and later declared dead although his body was never found.
Concluding an eight-year legal battle that dominated headlines, HongKong's Court of Final Appeal last year ruled against Wang's father-in-law, who accused her of forging his son's will.

The unfortunate earthquake in Chendu of China has happened. Who can predict it will happen ? Even the current state of art in the latest technology cannot allow us to know in advance the such disaster is coming.

For those that know about Fengshui, maybe you can see why the 7.8 richter scale earthquake did happen.

Chendu is located in the South of China. And everyone who knows Fengshui will know that the yellow star 5 is located in the South in 2008. For the month of May, the fire star 9 appears in the South. And today the day and the time (2.30 pm) is the wood stars of 3 and 4 appearing in the South sector respectively.

Cycle of birth shows that wood give birth to fire and fire gives birth to earth. So, no doubt the earth qi is very strong at the South and created the earthquake !

Is it a concidence that fengshui can tell the event. Then, why no one use that to forcast it ???

The reason is very simple. Fengshui expert cannot reveal all the secrets as the life will be shortened. So, either they keep quiet or say only 80 % correct. But, most like me will be silent as who will listen to us ?

Unfortunate Event is shown in the 4 Pillars of the Day !

On 12 July 2007 at around 10 am , there was an accident happened in Singapore whereby a lorry clashed into the sea near a forest at Sarimbun Camp. Inside the lorry, there were three workers and eventually 2 men escaped unhurt. Unfortunately, the youngest man among the three was drowned together with the lorry.
The tragic happened and usually it can be noticed from the 4 pillars of the day. However, it is rather difficult to predict before hand as from the 4 Pillars, it could mean many things. The character may be interpreted as people or building as in the case of the 4 Pillars on 11 Sep 2001.

I predicted that there will be a tragedy as I am particular when DING (yin fire) appear in the 4 Pillars of destiny. Let see the 4 Pillars of 12 July 2007. It is as follows :
There are 3 DINGS (yin fire of Heavenly Stem) and a YI (yin wood) This could mean that there are 3 men together inside a forest and something about to happen to them. Since the wood is supporting the fire, it is strong and in order to suppress the fire, water is needed. In actual situation, the lorry suddenly reversed and the 3 men were inside the lorry and falled to the sea together with the lorry.Eventually , only 2 survived and it is shown in the 4 Pillars whereby there are 2 DINGS sitting on earth. It means the 2 men will return to the ground.
However, the 3rd man cannot manage to survive and was drown at the sea. From the 4 Pillars, It is shown where the DING is sitting on HAI (yin water Pig) And this third man is in the early 20s as the pillar represents age from 0 to 25.
Moreover, this set of 4 Pillars are all YIN and it indicates that something negative will happen.

An Unfortunate Drown Accident

On 2 June 2007, it is sad to know that a tragedy has happened in the southern part of Singapore. A 6 year old girl was drown inside a swimming pool and this is the fifth case for the past 2 months.
In actual fact, a geomancer or fortune teller can reveal from a Bazi that someone is in down luck or in danger. It is deduced from the element or QI that a person is experiencing. If the element or QI is not in favour to his/her eight characters,then it will bring misfortune.
From the newspaper report, the girl was born on 15 Jun 2001. Based on Bazi (4 Pillars of Destiny) analysis, she is a strong earth person and her unfavourable elements are fire and earth. Wood can be good or bad as it can produce fire or suppress the earth.
She has a good destiny that has no serious clashes and combinations. However, the fact is that a good luck is better than a good destiny, and a good current year is better than a good luck. It is unfortunate that she is experiencing a down luck. She is in the start of wood luck and wood actually produces fire. Furthermore, there is a seasonal combination in her eight characters that produce the fire element.
As 2006 is a fire pig year, the fire element in the first half of the year is not to her advantage. Thus, the current year is not favourable to her. There are also clashes in her heaven stems and earthly branches.
In the month of June (wood snake), the fire element is active as it is in a summer season. The wood element in the month has aggravate the fire element.
On the 2 June itself, it is a fire Rabbit day. Again there is wood and fire element on this day and it is not favourable to her. There are also clashes in heavenly stems and earthly branches, plus the destruction due to the reaction of the earthly branches.
As the element fire is not desire to her, she should avoid south as fire element is active in the south.
By knowing your destiny and luck , one can take initiative to minimise risk so as to avoid misfortune. However, life is not so simple. Earth luck (feng shui) and man luck (the action taken by a person) also play a part in shaping the life.

His DOB is 23 Jul 1971. The time is unknown but it is still sufficient to establish that he is a weak earth person based on the destiny analysis. His favourite elements are fire and earth. 2006 was a fire and earth year. He should be experiencing good luck but there are more things than meet the eyes. It may be because of this that he has lost his guard.

Let look at his luck cycle. He has just turned to metal luck from earth luck. Metal will drained his favourable fire and earth elements. Car is made of metal and it could be a reason why he will meet his misfortune while driving a car.

Let look at Oct 06 itself which was an earth month. There was a seasonal combination that formed the metal element which thus increased his misfortune. Furthermore, October is the period whereby the metal element is dominant. For the clashes, he will experience harm and destruction. Both are misfortunes due to carelessness, irresponsible, complacent and being forced by circumstance. Again it was forced by circumstance. And due to his carelessness, complacent and irresponsibility, he hit someone but ran away without helping the victims.

Again in Oct 06, the analysis revealed that the earth elements in the month pillars to him were friends that literally robbed his money. Therefore, it showed that he should not have attended the party as it has cost him a bomb after that.

The most important finding was that in Oct 06, a symbolic star called Heaven Net has come. To a male, it is like a being trapped in a net. He will encountered obstacles and misfortune. It is especially severe for him as he was born in metal pig year that meet the Heaven Net.

I can go further but the above analysis is sufficient to show why he has such misfortune on that day.

The "I Ching" or "Book of change" is a Divination technique base on a series of symbols called Trigrams and Hexagrams. These are symbols made up of straight lines - either continuous or broken, to reflect the concept of Yin and Yang duality in the Universe. The I Ching is basically a tool for asking questions and getting answers.with a question in mind, one can throw 3 coins six times to set up the six lines of a hexagram. It is said that if one believes in the self then nothing can deter that person. Even a street vendor can become a multi-billionaire. “Sure” a Chinese would say but before that let me see if his destiny permits him to be multi-billionaire or not. The Chinese believe in the self, but more than that they believe in destiny. In Chinese metaphysics it is believed that everything is predetermined at the time of birth of a person. There are two systems of astrology; Four Pillars of Destiny or Bazi and Purple Star astrology or Zi Wei Do Shu. Bazi literally means eight words or characters. Bazi is an ancient Chinese metaphysical technique for analyzing a person’s fortune based on the birth data. It is quite different from Western astrology. Four Pillars is calculated in conjunction with the 10,000 year Hsia calendar that follows a sexagesimal cycle of heavenly stems and earthly branches. There are ten heavenly stems (cosmic influence) represented by the different polarities (Yin Yang) of the elements. There are twelve earthly branches (earthly influence) comprising the Chinese zodiac viz. tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, pig, rat and ox. The sexagesimal cycle constitutes of pairing a heavenly stem with an earthly branch. The Chinese applied this cycle to count the months, days and even hours. The 10,000 year Hsia calendar, uses this sexagesimal cycle which states the elemental influence at any given point of time.
